Well, my experiences at Saarang '07 have been very very unique and memorable. I thought i would dedicate a few posts to it sometime for sure. However, when this feedback form popped up in my hands...I realised that it definitely needs a mention way up there on my hit-list. So here we go .....
It was during the prelims of Light music solo (for which I was the Co-ordinator)...we had a long day... and many a dejected candidates who had come (without registering mind you.!!) and expected to coax their way through and sing for the prelims. Although we tried to incorporate all the candidates (even by giving them a minute to sing), it seems that a few people still had to miss the shot. One of these guys, filled up and submitted a feedback form for the event in which he vented all of his frustration, and angst. The monitoring guys gave it back to us...and, can't deny, it's a rivetting read.
To start with, there were a few ratings to be given (in which he had rated the Coordinator's and Saarang in a manner even worse than the ratings for mess grub!). However the crux lay in the latter part. Here's what it read ...
Q) Any comments on the event or Saarang ?
ANS) I would like the people at IIT to realise that they are dealing with human beings with emotions, and not inanimate objects. When we arrive on time, and aren't allowed to register for an event we have travelled 20 kms to attend, it is a natural reaction on our part to feel aggrieved about it. Saarang may be a huge event with "aspirational value" but when one individual isn't given the respect he/she deserves, we realise that we needn't keep turning up year after yearand be treated in a patronising manner by people too full of themselves, and the arrogance that comes with being a IIT-ian. IIT isn't all it's cranked up to be, I'm afraid. It's like a big brand, with big reputation, churning out lousy goods at astronomical prices.
Needless to say, this was my Google-talk status message for quite sometime.

The Prelude ....
The last sem has been very busy and loaded...and there have been quite a few experiences over the last couple of months that set me on a thought process I myself did not quite anticipate. Hence, I decided this new year I would finally take some time out and present myself a blog.
...and here it is. This makes me feel happy for more than one reasons. The obvious one is the one mentioned above. The other one being, finally I got a present ... from myself... but still ... a present is always welcome. The third one (yes, there is a third one) being, the fact that with time I have always felt that some experiences I had are so unique and peculiar that they simply deserved a mention in retrospect. "What better a place than a blog!"...was what I felt (thought that while writing about these, I could relive them the way I wanted to).
So here goes setting my ball rolling....
P.S: For all the silent audience of this show...I hope this turns out to be a unique experience for you too. Amen.
